McDonald's: Kids are fat because of video games

In a statement of monumental irony, the UK CEO of McDonald's blames video games, not his company's incredibly fatty food, for the trend of overweight children. (We're not making this up. Pinky swear.) Is it really worse to sit in front of a television than stuffing your face with double cheeseburgers?

I love this. I LOVE IT. I love when people say things that make it obvious they're completely oblivious to their own standing.

Check this out. Steve Easterbrook, CEO of the UK division of McDonald's, admits that, while his company plays a role and "shares a responsibility," he think that video games, which prevent kids from going outside, are also to blame.

So. Sitting in front of a television is what causes cholesterol to clog the arties, adipose to develop, and massive weight gain. It's not the oil-soked, cholesterol-laden, gastro-nightmares McDonald's likes to call "food."

Nope. Not at all. Serve me a failure pile in a sadness bowl!

Well...I wish someone would just make an official statement such as "bad habits make you unhealthy, not food/video games".

Agreed.

It's not so much that either McDonald's or video games themselves are to blame, it is poor decision making and blatant STUPIDITY that do so.
er, that should be "are." Stupid grammar.

I think they both play a part. It's when kids eat fatty foods and then do nothing but sit in front of the TV that they get fat. I eat unhealthy food and play a couple hours of video games every day, but I am slim. That is because I EXERCISE. That's all it takes is to get out and exercise for 1-2 hours everyday. So I wouldn't say the guy is entirely wrong, but he's not right either.

Of course this is true, but McDonald's still intentionally makes their food EXTREMELY unhealthy, including deceiving options such as their yogurt and fatty salad dressings. So while if people did not choose to eat them all the time, they would not be overweight, it is still unhealthy to eat anything from them every once in a while.
I think it's funny that they think people take their statements seriously.

There's an ad for Wii on that page you linked to. Some video games (like Wii) actually offer stimulating activity that constitutes as exercise. Let's do the math. Video games might equal exercise, but fast food will still equal grease, oil, calories, and fat. All in all, it stills boils down to good decisions vs. bad decisions.

you lose more weight playing video games and watching tv than you do stuffing your face with shit food like Mcdonalds, McDonalds was once sued for a guy ordered fries and it tasted like fish and he was allergec to fish and that goes to show that they are even worse to eat at and not very hygenic

There was a program on TV a few years ago talking about China's sudden rise childrens obesity which started to happen shortly after McDonalds started having restaurants there.

I have no links I just remember it. :C

Since I recently restructured how I eat (sans Fast Food such as McDonalds) I've been feeling healthier and I'm actually losing some of that winter fattiness from the holidays. The big surprise? I'm a huge video gamer: Xbox 360, PC, Wii, PS2, and even my Nintendo DS. If I'm not working, at school, or spending time with the BF, then I'm gaming.

Soooo.... take that McDonalds, ignorant bastards.
