SXSW to premiere 'Harold and Kumar'

A strange announcement today from the South By Southwest camp: Their film fest will premiere Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay. Normally known for showing small indie flicks, it's one of the first times a big budget comedy will be shown at the festival.

We're not going to get the full lineup for the film fest at this year's extravaganza until February 5, but here are the 5 films we know are playing so far:
  • Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay
  • Battle in Seattle - Documentary on the WTO protests in Seattle, 1999
  • Mister Lonely, whose only plot seems to be that a Michael Jackson impersonator meets a Marilyn Manson impersonator. (???)
  • The Promotion, a supermarket comedy about rival grocers. (Stars John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott)
  • Crawford, a documentary about how the town of Crawford, Texas has been affected by a certain man who was born there: George W. Bush.
  • The Toe Tactic - Animated feature. No plot synopsis yet, but David Cross is voicing a character!
Fun times. Hopefully, I'll be able to go this year!

I'm there. YEAH!

Oh, and if you don't go, Mark, the top story will probably be which movies situationally-acquired ADD dumbass Brit and her posse walked out on. Those were the headlines on FOX the past two years in a row.

The Namesake was an amazing film, but of course the book was even better. I must say that in general, I was impressed with the adaptation to film (I can be quite critical of this).

I have not read the book. But it's true. When you hear that it was a novel turned movie you have to wonder if the movie was any good. But I did enjoy the film very much. Thank god for netflix
